5 Tips to Find a Hotel in Peru that meet your needs and budget
Are you wondering how to look a hotel in Peru? Are you looking for cheap and clean hotels? Or maybe you are looking for luxury hotels? What is the difference between a hostel and a hotel? Let’s begin. When you look for a hotel there are 5 factors to consider:
# 1 Location.
The heart of most cities in Peru is the “Plaza de Armas” or Main Square; therefore it is a good idea to choose a hotel close to it. In that way, it will be easy to go out for shopping, eating, going to bars & clubs. But, don’t go too close, or you are going to hear noise all night! The exception to this rule is Lima, where the area of the main square is not so nice, in this case, you should look for a hotel in the area of Miraflores, the heart of commercial and tourism life.
Today, there are many categories available, more than the standard “stars” system.
Youth hostels: This kind of hostels are mainly for young people, who like to share the room with strangers, that don’t mind to share the bathroom with more passengers and are open to make new friends. These hostels are economic and they are well known to organize parties every day!!
Hostels: If you want something economic with private services, this option is for you. Hostels are basic hotels, with minimum services. You will have your own room, with private bathroom and TV. That’s it. There is no reception area (or receptionist available all day), and if they offer breakfast, it is very basic.
Hotels: Here starts the standard “stars” category, were you go from 3 to 5 stars. Normally 3 stars are comfortable hotels, with receptionist 24 hours, good restaurant services and other services such as safety boxes and laundry. From there, 4 and 5 stars hotels add services and luxury to their service.
Boutique Hotels: There is a new category of hotels, the boutique ones. These hotels are usually small properties with unique details in each room. Some of them have art paintings, some others are theme based. A common characteristic of these hotels is that it is run by their owners, so you will feel you are at home, with warm attention.
# 3 Room Type.
This characteristic depends on how many people are traveling together, you can ask for a single, double, twin, triple or quadruple room. If you are traveling with children, ask your hotel if they have family’s room.
# 4. International Chain Hotel or Individual Hotel.
There are many international chain hotels running hotels in Peru, there are also local chains and of course there are individual hotels. It depends on you to choose a hotel of an international chain or a local one. Some of the international chains hotels in Peru are Marriot, Hilton, Novotel, Belmond hotels. Local chains include Casa Andina, Libertador and Inkaterra hotels.
# 5. Price.
Of course the price depends on the combination of the factors I have analyzed above. Youth hostels start from $ 15 the bed; hostels can cost $ 25-$30 the room. Luxury hotels can cost $ 500 the room and Boutique hotels can cost $1,500 the room per night.
So, what hotel do you prefer?
