How to Choose the Perfect Domestic Flight in Peru?
Are you wondering how to flight within Peru? Are there any international airlines serving domestic flights? Are there cheap flights or budget airlines in Peru? Well, you are about to discover it now…..
There are 4 airlines that operate domestic flights in Peru, 2 of them are international airlines: Lan and Taca (now Avianca), and the other 2 are local ones: Star Peru and Peruvian Airlines None of these are budget airlines.
So, which airline should you choose? Like everything in life, it depends……. on your time, budget, preferences, destination, etc.
In general, international airlines are more expensive than local ones, but their service level is superior. Don’t expect decent food at any airline!! Good thing is that most flights take in average one hour to reach your destination.
This is the list of cities served per airline. You can find flights from Lima to any of the cities described below and their return flight.
There are only few intermediate flights (flights that do not begin or end in Lima): operated by Lan and Taca: Cusco – Puno, Cusco – Pto Maldonado, Cusco- Arequipa and their return flights.
• Allow some time in between your international flight and your domestic flight. At your arrival you can expect some delays in immigrations paperwork. At your departure, your domestic flight may be delayed due to weather problems, which are very common during rainy season (November to March)
• Lan Peru provides better rates for peruvian residents, so if you see in their web: base rate or base plus rate, do not choose them, or you will have to pay the difference at the airport! I am not sure if you will see those rates, as they may appear only in the peruvian web.
• Overflight the Nazca Lines is considered a touristic flight, I will address it in other post
